"Doing Stuff Is Hard is a rather wonderful collection of musical musings and ruminations on torpor, distraction, self-doubt, friendship, love and, in the title of final track, rapture. Walking a well-trodden line between Ivor Cutler and Arlo Guthrie, Shambles Miller is certainly more than the “comedy musician” he disparagingly tags himself in the track Worriers. Yes, granted that each track is founded on an entertaining and at times laugh-out-loud narrative punctuating a folk guitar foundation, however, as you would expect from an aspirant troubadour, underlying the funny moments in the songs are some tender and genuinely loving sentiments. A gem of an EP."
- Bobby Motherwell, Scottish Fiction
"Could be compared to troubadours like Frank Turner...but he also has a wit, panache and charm that is all his own."
- Gavin Porter, Is This Music
"For me, the wry, laconic lofi-fi acoustic pop of Glasgow-based songwriter Shambles Miller – in fact his whole musical persona – is completely irresistible...I’d recommend downloading everything you can get your hands on and immersing yourself in the unique – sometimes funny, sometimes angry, always unfailingly honest – world of Shambles Miller."
- Tom Robinson, BBC 6 Music
